Living Healthy - Travelers Medical Plan Resources
 |
Overview
Travelers partners with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), United Healthcare (UHC) and Express Scripts to administer the company's medical and prescription drug benefits. In addition, each vendor provides multiple programs geared toward helping participants with a wide variety of health care needs.
|
Nurse Lines
BCBS and UHC provide phone access to registered nurses 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The nurses are trained to help when members are sick, hurt, or not sure how to handle a health problem for themselves or a family member. The service helps members make good decisions about the alternatives available for care.

Healthy Pregnancy Programs
BCBS and UHC provide prenatal care support programs for pregnant members. These programs can help members learn what they need to know to have the healthiest birth — and healthiest baby — possible. These programs are additional resources for pregnant members and it's all completed over the phone to make it as easy as possible. BCBS and UHC members receive a $50 retail gift certificate for participating.

Condition Management Programs
BCBS and UHC have established partners to provide condition management programs to members with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, coronary heart failure, heart failure and low back pain. These voluntary and confidential programs offer education and phone-based support from nurses specialized in chronic conditions. The programs are structured to help individuals living with these health conditions understand their health status and make the most of their doctors' treatment plans by providing individualized information and personal support services, and by generally helping people though the complicated health care system.
Vendor Web Sites
BCBS, UHC and Express Scripts provide Travelers-specific Web sites where members can register as a participant. Registration provides members with access to their claim information and Explanation of Benefit statements, as well as standard provider search tools and other general health and prescription drug information. In addition, the Express Scripts Web site allows members to review the cost of their medications and manage their mail order prescriptions.
