Overview
The company-provided STD plan provides benefits for a maximum duration of 13 weeks per calendar year. In order to be eligible, your leave must satisfy an elimination period of five consecutive business days. Upon satisfying the elimination period, benefits will be paid starting on the sixth consecutive business day that you are unable to work, provided that your disability claim is approved by Synchrony, Travelers' disability vendor. Benefits are paid as follows:
- First eight weeks after satisfying the elimination period: 100 percent of base salary
- Next five weeks: 80 percent of base salary
For each approved STD absence, you will be required to apply five PTO days to satisfy the elimination period. An STD absence that is recurrent to an original period of disability does not need to satisfy a new elimination period and will not be charged additional PTO days as long as it meets the following conditions:
- The absence is related to or resulting from the same cause as the original disability; and
- The absence occurs within 31 days of your most recent return-to-work from the STD leave.
If you do not have any unused PTO time available to apply towards the elimination period, the elimination period will be unpaid.
