FMLA may be taken in either intermittent or consecutive lengths of time.
- Intermittent FMLA requires an employee to be out of the office periodically for short periods of time with unknown onsets.
- Continuous FMLA is continuous in nature with a duration of at least five days, and in most cases, has a known start and end date.
