Overview
Nearly half of all Americans will need long-term care at some point in their lives, and one in five over the age of 50 is at a high risk of needing it in the next 12 months. Injuries and ailments can happen to anyone and at any age.
Long-term care services are not meant to cure an illness or injury. Long-term care is needed when people become unable to care for themselves and require help doing the "everyday things" taken for granted, like getting out of bed, bathing, dressing and eating. Long-term care typically requires care for a lengthy period, at home or in a facility that provides long-term care services.
Travelers offers employees the opportunity to purchase long-term care insurance through MetLife. By participating in this plan, you can help to provide greater financial security for you and your family by providing coverage for expenses that are typically not covered by medical or disability income insurance. Available levels of coverage include daily benefit amounts of $100, $150, $200 or $250 for facilities only or comprehensive coverage.
