Dependent Eligibility Audit Program

Travelers strives to provide you and your family with valuable benefits. Ensuring the integrity of the dependent eligibility data on file is an important component of Travelers programs as having ineligible dependents enrolled in any benefit program increases the costs - both to you and the company.

Travelers conducts random audits of covered dependents. If an individual is selected to be audited, they will receive a letter requesting that they provide appropriate documentation to verify proof of dependent eligibility (e.g. birth certificates, university transcripts, etc.)

To review your enrolled family member information, go to HR Self Service and click Dependent/Beneficiary Coverage under Employee Quick Links. Eligible dependents are defined on the Eligibility Information page.

Please refer to these Frequently Asked Questions (PDF) for further information on the Dependent Eligibility Audit Program. For more information on benefit eligibility, refer to the Benefit Plan Summaries.

Covering ineligible dependents is a violation of company policy that could result in the termination of your family member's eligibility, disciplinary action, your liability for benefits incorrectly paid, and civil or criminal prosecution. If you have ineligible family members enrolled in your benefit elections (e.g. married child, ex-spouse, etc.) who are inadvertently covered under the plan, you must remove them immediately. To remove a dependent, contact the Employee Services Unit (ESU) at 800.441.4378.
