- Mail Order/Preferred Home Delivery: If you take maintenance prescriptions for ongoing conditions or needs (e.g., asthma, diabetes, birth control, high cholesterol, hypertension, arthritis), you should consider using the mail order pharmacy. The mail order pharmacy provides the convenience of up to a 90-day supply, lower prices, home delivery, no shipping charges and a phone line that is staffed by pharmacists 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
Use of the mail order pharmacy is voluntary and not required under the Travelers' medical plans; however, you will see a cost savings by using this preferred method. Travelers' medical plan prescription drug coverage is subject to the Preferred Home Delivery policy.
- Generics Preferred Policy: The Generics Preferred policy encourages purchase of generic medications by offering a cost savings. The Generics Preferred policy will apply to all prescription classes with the exception of Coumadin and Synthroid.
- Formulary Prescription Drugs: A formulary is a list of U.S. FDA-approved prescription drugs that are on Express Scripts' preferred list. They include both generic and brand name drugs that are considered to be as safe and effective as other drugs that can be prescribed for the same condition. Preferred brand name and generic medications listed on the formulary have lower coinsurance amounts and therefore can save you money.
If you would like to take advantage of this cost savings, simply bring a copy of the formulary with you when you visit your doctor (sorted by condition or sorted alphabetically) so that they can pick a drug from the list whenever possible. Also, ask for generic drugs versus brand name drugs whenever they are available and are appropriate for your condition.
Please keep in mind that the formulary is updated quarterly for additions and annually for deletions. Also, this list is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of covered drugs and does not guarantee coverage.
To access an exhaustive list of covered medications, please visit www.express-scripts.com. If you have questions regarding the status of a medication, contact Express Scripts customer service at 877.494.7472.

Under the specialty program, members are allowed two initial fills per medication at a local retail pharmacy. After that, the medications will be filled via the CuraScript mail order pharmacy.
